Black (ブラック, Burakku) served as the Chief of Staff (参謀, Sanbō) of the Red Ribbon Army. He was the second in command under the leadership of Red. However after uncovering the true motives of his commander, he usurped his role as the commander.[1][2]

- Like all members of the Red Ribbon Army, Black is named after a color, in this case, black. He is only member of the higher ranks technically not named after a color, however, as black itself is the absence of color.
- In the FUNimation dub of the series Black is called "Staff Officer" instead of Chief of Staff.
