Brief has the appearance of an elderly man. He has pale purple hair, which his youngest daughter and two grandchildren would inherit, and beady black eyes, as well as a moustache of similar color. He typically weas a labcoat over a shirt and trousers, as well as his sandals, and thick-rimmed glasses. He is often seen smoking, a habit Bulma temporarily picked up, and Tama rests on his shoulder on occasion.
