"Time Traveling Gokū" (時をかける悟空, Toki o Kakeru Gokū; FUNimation "The Time Room") is the one hundred twenty-ninth episode of the Dragon Ball anime.
Summary
Mr. Popo sends Gokū back in time to train more. In the past he meets the young Muten Rōshi and his rival, the young Tsuru Sennin. Gokū learns from their master Mutaito how to harness his spirit energy. During an incident where the Tsuru Sennin steals Rōshi's love interest, Gokū gets angry and manages to use his spirit energy successfully. Back in the present, Tenshinhan contemplates visiting Karin Tower in order to train as Gokū once had.
Trivia
- This episode was the first to introduce the concept of "time travel" to the series, which would not be explored again until the Androids and Cell Arc of the manga. Despite this, the time travel introduced in this episode would be vastly different from the concept shown later in the series, as Gokū's travelling back in time did not result in a splintered timeline.
