"Gokū Steps Up! The Last Chance From Beerus-sama?!" (悟空見参だ!ビルス様からのラストチャンス!?, Tsu ni Gokū ga Kenzan da! Birusu-sama Kara no Rasuto Chansu!?; FUNimation "Goku Makes an Entrance! A Last Chance from Lord Beerus?")[1] is the eighth episode of the Dragon Ball Super anime.

Summary

Having powered up, Vegeta charges towards Beerus. He manages to land a few punches before Beerus, who was using only a fraction of his power, knocks him out. Just as he is about to destroy Earth, Beerus has a sudden idea. He decides to give the Earthlings another chance at saving Earth. Meanwhile, fearing for their lives, the Pilaf Gang disembark Bulma's ship on a rowboat and sail away. Thinking he is the same as Majin Bū because of his pink hue, Beerus picks Oolong out of the crowd and challenges him to a game of Jan Ken to decide the fate of Earth. Oolong manages to draw twice, but Beerus eventually wins and proceeds to power up his attack. Just as Beerus is about to fire, Gokū chimes in saying he has thought of a way of finding out about the Super Saiyan God – summoning and asking Shenron.

Trivia

Beerus vs. Oolong

Oolong vs. Beerus in the movie.

    • Oolong and Beerus' game of Jan Ken to decide the fate of Earth first appeared in the special extended version of Dragon Ball Z: God and God. In that version however, Yamcha advises Oolong that Beerus most likely selected him as his opponent because he believed that Oolong, being a pig, would be unable to form anything besides "scissors" with his hands.[2] In contrast, in this episode Beerus selects Oolong because he mistakenly assumes that he is the same species as Majin Bū, and Yamcha gives Oolong no advice. In fact, in this version Oolong ends up throwing "scissors" three times in a row, which is exactly what Yamcha told him to avoid in the movie version.
    • After defeating Vegeta, Beerus comments that it is the first time in a long while that he has fought at 10% of his full effort. This mirrors Whis' line at the end of Dragon Ball Z: God and God where he says it has been a long time since Beerus used 70% of his full power in a fight. Beerus also comments that fighting Vegeta was more fun than his fight with "that Saiyan at North Kaiō's planet". Both this line and the 10% line imply that Vegeta becomes stronger than Gokū after becoming enraged over Beerus slapping Bulma. In Dragon Ball Z: God and God, this line however is mentioned by Muten Rōshi that Vegeta's anger over Bulma causes him to surpass Gokū.
