The Kaiō of the South (みなみかいおう, Minami no Kaiō; FUNimation "South Kai", Viz "Lord of the Southern Worlds"; Literally meaning "World King of the South") is the Kaiō who watches over the South Galaxies of the 7th Universe.

Personality[]

South Kaiō is a boastful being who shares a tense rivalry with the Kaiō of the North. He seems to take great pleasure in mocking North Kaiō.

Appearance[]

South Kaiō is the tallest of the Kaiō. He has pink-colored skin and wears similar clothing to North Kaiō, with the emblem for "south" (南) emblazoned into it. Like other Kaiō, he wears a hat which has two antennae protruding from the top. Additionally, he wears a white pair of sunglasses and a pair of golden earrings on his large pointy ears.

Abilities[]

While South Kaiō's fighting abilities are completely shrouded in mystery, he has demonstrated the ability to increase the weight of any object he wishes.[3]

South Kaio and Papoi

South Kaiō with Papoi.

South Kaiō came across North Kaiō training with Son Gokū and, upon seeing the method he was using for training, claimed that his own warrior, Papoi, could easily defeat Gokū. In a boastful display, North Kaiō had his southern counterpart add an additional eight tons to the two Gokū was already using to train in order to prove Gokū's superiority. While Gokū was unable to hold up the weights in his normal state, upon becoming a Super Saiyan, he returned to training as usual, causing South Kaiō to back down.[3]

Trivia[]

  • In the manga, North Kaiō and South Kaiō are the only two Kaiō to make an appearance.
