Original Illustrated Story (オリジナル イラスト ストーリー, originaru irasuto sutōrī) is the title given to three short Dragon Ball side-stories collection, written and illustrated by various members of the anime production staff.

Original Illustrated Story #1: Piccolo[]

OIS1 Piccolo

In the Name of Demon King Piccolo (ピッコロ大魔王の名に賭けて, Pikkoro Daimaō no Nani Kakete) is the first original illustrated stories, was written by Takao Koyama with illustrations by Minoru Maeda, published on Jump Gold Selection 4: Dragon Ball Z Anime Special on October 18, 1989. It focused on the second Piccolo, beginning with his birth and covering events up through the arrival of the Saiyans.

Original Illustrated Story #2: Vegeta[]

High Pride!! Saiya Prince Vegeta (誇り高き!! サイヤの王子ベジータ, Hokoritakaki!! Saiya no Ōji Bejīta) is the second original illustrated stories, was written by Takao Koyama with illustrations by Minoru Maeda, published on Jump Gold Selection 5: Dragon Ball Z Anime Special II on June 06, 1991. It focused on Vegeta, beginning with his childhood back on his Saiyan home world and covering events up through the battle on Planet Namek.

Original Illustrated Story #3: Trunks[]

The Lonely Future Warrior!! Trunks (孤独の未来戦士!! トランクス, Kodoku no Mirai Senshi!! Torankusu) is the third and latest original illustrated stories, was written by Aya Matsui with illustrations by Minoru Maeda, published on Dragon Ball Z TV Special 1 “Film Animation Comic on January 12, 1993. It focused on Trunks, telling the story of his future timeline, seeking out and desperately hoping for the acceptance and love of his father, and his first meet with Son Gokū.
