I wanted to post this a couple of days ago. But did you hear about the potential of a new set of movies, given that we have a very small community I'm sure you've read already that Toei has acquired a domain that is aptly named Dragonball2018dotcom very similar to how the two previous movies we've seen. Now given that I want to express my current theories and even a second theory on what I think it is. There is a chance that it could be based on the events after Z portion of the series. But I don't think that to be the case.
I think it will be one of those movies that toei used to release annually. Given the current way of Super where it even has gag episodes, where would a movie like this stand in the canon policy? This is much trickier given that it could have actually take place within the series' continuity. The series is pretty casual and likely will get the "One Piece" treatment.
Let me explain One Piece after its time-skip released a movie called Strong World where it alluded to various elements, where it even had major involvement from its creator. Some films after it has even been given "mini-arcs" that build up to the screening of the film. So where would such a thing fall under in the canon policy?
Now onto what I believe the domain could be. I am pretty much in the opinion the Dragon Ball Super manga will receive either film series or even an OVA series at some point. That adapts the series from the manga, which I would love given the amazing creativity and fluidity that Toyotaro has for the series. He has always illustrated his love and passion for the series. The events in the manga make a lot of sense and are always more consistent with the universe and power scaling of the series. It is also has better fighting scenes that I think sometimes Super lacks. Even the manga’s adaptation of the Universe 6 arc had better fights in the manga.
Given the cash-cow the Dragon Ball franchise is. I would not be surprised they do this. I mean they even gave us a remastering of the fight between Goku and Freeza. Coincidentally there was three domains that were also purchased by Toei which are a set of three years that as well follows the same trend. Now sure that could just be that Toei is doing it as insurance policy to give themselves more time. So if something bad happens they just push it back.
But I believe that it's the Super Manga. Because if there is three dragonball movie domains it fits perfectly with the current manga arcs such as the “Universe 6” arc, the Future Trunks Arc and the Universe Survival Arc. The previous arcs wouldn’t need to be re-adapted since they already movies. So that’s my two cents what do you guys think of the new domains, or better yet the fact we could be getting a new Super movie. I would like to hear your thoughts and what you think this could mean for the series.
