My first review for the first episode.
What do i think about ? It was awesome and funny, that´s all i need to say.
When talking about DB, what´s the first that comes to your mind?adventure(for part 1)? fights?, martial arts? energy blasts?, silly things happening? but i bet that not many would put slice of life and DB in the same sentence, well that what we get for most part, aside from short clips of crap being destroyed.
Seeing characters interacting with each other, outside of battles and similar s***, for me feels refreshing. Goku and Goten spending time (like they barely interacted). Gohan and Videl together with a stalker Piccoro, perhaps he´s jelous that Videl is stealing his "son",lol(cause Piccoro imo he was a better father figure than Goku, though not by to much). Goten and trunks in their little adventure for Videls present is probably the only section of the episode were we have our first proper fight, thought it was short and i´d say sweet. Mark and Fat Bū makes some funny duo, also Despite Mark having a big ego, he knows to give credits where credits is due and i think thats something good for his characters (though he already did something similar in th 2008 ova). In the last minutes with have a Chi Chi dreaming in turning Goten into Gohan(like it would ever happen) with all the zenis(a wild Tory-Bot shows-up XD), a pervy Roshi being Roshi and thinking that one the most powerful warrior of the universe needs to ask to his wife for permition to train is so hilarius. Episode ends with the Kaio Shins with worried faces (mmm what could be awaiting...)
Compare to the manga "adaptation" this was nearly a copy past, minus differences.
So my final Score:
Animation: 8.5 (better than i though it would be)
Sound: 8 (though at first not noticeable, in the second half i started to notice its presences and it was a pretty nice music)
Story: 8 (its main purpose was to set the series, and nothing more and not major plot points were dropped at all, though not a bad job)
Enjoyment: 9 (i laught, never got bored, and wanted to see more by time it ended)
Overall: 8.4 (a very good start)
Now the real test begins, will it hold up or not in the long run? They possibility of sucking is there but, there´s nothing wrong in being optimistic.
