The yen (円, en; Symbol: ¥) is one of the currencies used on Earth. The yen only seems to be used in the eastern area of the world: primarily the area in and around the Eastern Capital. Prior to the start of the series, the Zenī—the primary currency used on Earth—was worth 1.5 less than the yen.[1] By the time the series began, however, the yen had decreased in value, making the two currencies roughly equivalent.[2]
