Zalama (ザラマ, Zarama) is an ancient Ryūjin who is responsible for creating the Super Dragon Balls.[1]

Trivia

  • In the manga, Zunō refers to the being as "Ryūjin" (りゅうじん; Literally meaning "Dragon God"), the name's origin in Chinese, written as opposed to "Shenron" (シェンロン).[1]
  • Zalama's name is likely derived from "salamander" (サラマンダー, saramandā), which is mythologically associated with fire, especially in Japan, and thus, with dragons as well.
